Class 1 - Unicorn

Class Unicorn is our reception and year one class and the teacher in Class Unicorn is Mrs Castell.

 

This is my fifth year working at Berriew CP School and my second year teaching Reception and Year 1! I qualified as a teacher in 2020 and have been working at Berriew as a teaching assistant and teacher covering PPA ever since. I have taught all of the year groups over the last four years and have gained a vast amount of experience, however I have a real passion for Foundation Learning.

 

In Unicorn Class, we aim to provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment for children to learn. All children will experience a wealth of activities and opportunities through which they will grow socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally. During their time with us, we aim to encourage the children to become ambitious and capable learners, who are confident in exploring the world around them. As part of our creative curriculum, we provide varied learning experiences all based around our topic which changes every term. We pay close attention to numeracy and literacy and we love to learn through play using adult led and child initiated experiences throughout the day. We have a large outside learning environment, which we use all through the year, no matter what the weather is doing!

 

We are very fortunate to have a on site Pre-School which many children attend before beginning their school journey at Berriew School.
